Very good articles, although I do not agree with the scrapping of the awards. the ACB would be crazy to scrap the Shield, as it is the core building block for our cricketers. Just as 50 0ver cricket has been wearing at the edges so will 20/20. It is like YO YO's, the craze lifts its head every so often then fades in popularity. It will never teach a player how to play the game the way it is meant to be played and Test cricket has and will continue to dominate interest. The next ashes tour to England is probably already sold out. The ACB needs to look at scheduling and not Cowtow to the almighty dollar. The ICB needs to put resources into the West Indies, Bangladesh and NZ etc as well as clean up Pakistan. If the strength of national teams improve and standards can come together interest will return in those nations, and we can again see people hanging out of trees in the West Indies watching 200cm quicks terrorise the batsmen. The ICB have been negligent in the promotion and nurturing of the game in the poorer nations.
