The West Indies won their first series for two and half years when sparkling efforts from Fidel Edwards (first Innings), Kirk Edwards (both), Darren Bravo (second) and Davendra Bishoo (2nd) dominated Bangladesh. They were helped by a reckless first innings batting display from Bangladesh and poor fielding which kept Bravo at the batting crease.
Bravo made the most of his first Test hundred, finally out for 195 and the catalyst for the declaration. Bangladesh showed more responsibility when it was too late, with Iqbal, Rahim and Al Hasan making second innings half centuries. Bishoo collected is first five wicket haul but it was skipper DJ Sammy who twice broke through partnerships that were causing the West Indies concern that victory was not exactly a sure thing. In the end, the margin in terms of runs and time was comfortable enough.
The West Indies are an improving side but Bangladesh will always struggle as their player base is small and their first class experience limited.
