You Were Warned ...

... don't say you weren't.

Malcolm Speed after the Hair affair.
Things have got decidedly worse.
After Sri Lanka successfully appealed against playing two Tests against the West Indies earlier this year because they clashed with the end of the IPL, they have now asked the ICC to reschedule three Tests against South Africa so they can conduct a three team ODI tournament instead.

The ICC is considering the matter.

The Tests against the West Indies have been cancelled and won't be rescheduled.

Sri Lankan cricket, which ran at a such a disastrous financial loss that players weren't paid for nearly two years, has been taken over by the government and is currently run by an interim committee appointed by them. The head of the committee is Vijaya Malalasekera, Chairman of Boston Capitol, a privately owned investment holding company with interests in financial services, real estate, property development and leisure industries.

Business, it seems, will be as usual and profit margins the only consideration. An ICC dominated by the power of the sub continent is unlikely to disagree.

We just moved a little further up the wedge, the thin edge left behind ages ago.
